According to Purana Ganesh Chaturthi, the day when Lord Ganesha was born. the birthday of Lord Ganesha is celebrated as Ganesh Chaturthi in India with full devotion and is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha in the Bhadrapada month.

The national vacation of Ganesh Chaturthi is observed with elaborate rituals. The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as a very grand function in Maharashtra.

Numerous folktales explain why Ganesh Chaturthi is observed. In this topic, we'll let you know about one of them.

Reason Behind Celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi:

In Hindu Puranas, Ganesh Chaturthi is mentioned as the born day of lord Ganesha. Goddess Parvati, before taking a bath, created a child out of her filth and made him her gatekeeper.

Lord Ganesha is standing as a gatekeeper at the main door. Lord Shiva Comes there, but Lord Ganesha refuses to let him in. Shiva got angry and cut Ganesha’s head with his Trishul. After seeing all this Goddess Parvati becomes very upset.

Then Lord Shiva asks his Gana to go in the next direction and bring the first seen head to him. By following Lord Shiva’s order, all of Gana goes in the north direction and brings the head of an elephant.

To bring the child's life back, Lord Shiva attached that elephant's head to the child. And Lord Ganesha was alive again. After this incident, every God and Goddess present gave many boons and blessings to the child. One blessing given to Lord Ganesha is to be worshipped first on every occasion among every diety.

As mentioned in the Puranas, whoever worships Lord Ganesha on Ganesh Chaturthi with devotion, all the obstacles in their life will be removed with the grace of Lord Ganesha.

Grand Celebration:

In the state of Maharashtra, the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration is widely observed. In the Hindu calendar's Bhadrapada month, the event is observed for ten days. The Carved Marble Ganesha statue is immersed in the closest spot of water on the tenth day, Anant Chaturdashi, also referred to as Visarjan, after being worshipped for ten days.

People observe several rituals over these ten days, including erecting a pandal, or temporary platform, to place the idol; performing the aarti; and offering prasad, particularly modak, which is thought to be Lord Ganesha's, favorite sweet.

The blessings of Lord Ganesha are regarded as being extremely auspicious before beginning any kind of work, making him one of the most revered deities.

Conclusion:

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most celebrated festivals in India, especially in Maharashtra. People bring Carved Marble Ganesha statues into their homes and worship Lord Ganesha with full devotion for nine days. And on the tenth day, they immersed the statue in the water.

It is believed that Ganesh Chaturthi is the born day of Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is known as the God of prosperity and removes all obstacles from his devotee's life. Before any grand or holy occasion, he is the one who is worshipped in every Hindu house.

Lord Ganesha is portrayed as having an elephant head and a human body, as when Parvati made Lord Ganesha with her body’s dirt and made him the gatekeeper, Lord Shiva in anger cut down his head. After that, Shiva attached an elephant head to the body of Lord Ganesha to give him life again.
